For this Project i really had to use my past understanding of composition and night/ low light photography to achieve these results. I had to line up my brother in different positions to achieve good overall composition. Using my previous knowledge on low light i was able to set up light and shadows in an interesting way. This project taught me how important it is to sometimes crop an image. if some images are left un-cropped then sometimes negative space can take away from the overall presentation. Another thing i found out was that different backgrounds can achieve different effects. Such as the curtain or just a negative space such as a wall. I will absolutely take my understanding of low-light/ portrait photography into future personal projects.

For this Project i really had to use my past understanding of composition to achieve these results however we had the added difficulty of having to take the pictures at night. Since the topic of this set of pictures is night we had to take new things into consideration. One is that the camera must be very still if you want to take a crisp photo. Items such as a tripod or flat surface helped me achieve these effects. This new learning of slow shutter speeds and f/ stops will absolutely help me in the next topic: portraits.

For this project i had to use my past learning of composition, negative space, lines and shapes. This learning is emphasized throughout these pictures. The glass aloud me to create shadows and reflections to fill some of the negative space. I had a hard time learning how to create effective negative space at certain angles, for example picture 5 has a faulty negative space from the angle it was taken. I learned how to use angles to their best effect and cast light and shadows to produce and interesting result. My learning from this project will be extremely effective in the upcoming ‘Night Photography’ project. Using light and shadows will be very useful during this project, allowing me to effectively cast the essence of the night.

For this project i really had to focus on how to arrange objects, people, animals, shadows, etc. in order to reflect a mood in an arranged and organized way. This required me to use past photography knowledge in order to achieve the highest quality pictures.

Past learning like camera angles can be seen in all photos. However new learning such as use of shadows and emphasis through color can be seen in several other photos, this allowed me to create a new way to emphasize a subject.

Aspects that i will obviously take forward, is all the key aspects i learned and used in this project. The use of repetition, shadows, lines, color difference, etc. will allow me to expand my photography understanding and techniques. I will try to apply this in future projects.

For this project i really had to try and look at simple lines and shapes from a more interesting perspective. This included pointing the camera at different angles, instead of just straight forward. Many ways i got an interesting angle was pointing the camera up, This new perspective allowed the images to show simple things in a new and improved way. Another way i was guaranteed an interesting photo was taking many pictures of the same thing, just from different angles.

The next step was editing the photos, this was done using photoshop. Photoshop allowed me to digitally alter my photos in many unique and interesting ways. These ways included contrast changing, color correction, black and white, and color isolation. This allowed me to digitally enhance my photos, hopefully for the better.
